AMERICAN SON Zoom movie watch party, w/Kerry Washington & Steven Pasquale Don't miss our Zoom watch party of this controversial movie, especially timely since this is Loving Day weekend. An estranged interracial couple reunite in a Florida police station to help find their missing teenage son.

Based on the 2018 Broadway theater production of the same name, Netflix’s “American Son” tells the story of the forgotten outcome of racial violence and police brutality— the story of the families. With a story shaped by one question "Where is Jamal?" director Kenny Leon explores a situation of hopelessness, frustration and what it means to be black in America.

Log into our Zoom Room at 7:45p CST to meet & greet before we start at 8p CST. There will be a brief overview of the June 12, 1967 Loving v. Virginia historic Supreme Court decision to legalize interracial marriage nationwide. It will be a chance to contrast what progress in Civil Rights has been made and what still needs to change. Text host Robin T for the Zoom link and any questions 312-285-7555.
