When and Where is the Celebration?
Celebrate the 44th anniversary of the 'Loving v. the State of Virginia' Supreme Court decision to legalize interracial marriage nationwide! Until June 12, 1967 there were many states in America where it was ILLEGAL to marry someone outside your race. The parents of President Barack Obama, as well as many of our own parents, could have been arrested and imprisoned for marrying prior to that day. The repeal of these laws was a very important step in the civil rights movement.
Come join the Biracial & Friends Social Group and the Biracial Family Network in recognizing the progress that has been made, and appreciating diversity and our freedom to love whomever we choose, regardless of color. All are welcome! (21 & over, please. Celebration is in the side bar area)
