When and Where is the Celebration?
Celebration Details
Please join us for the 3rd annual Loving Day Vermont, remembering the Supreme Court case of Loving v. Virginia (1967), which legalized interracial marriage! Nearly 50 years ago, Mildred and Richard Loving contributed to an ongoing fight for racial justice. Their actions are connected to work that came before them and work that continues today. This year's event will be held in collaboration with the Pride Center of Vermont and include recognition of last year's Supreme Court decision in Obergefell v. Hodges, which legalized same-sex marriage. While is it important to take time to celebrate these legal victories, with this event we hope to engage in thoughtful discussion with couples affected by both court decisions and their allies. Spend a Saturday afternoon in June enjoying light refreshments and sharing your experiences with racial justice and/or heterosexism and/or learning more about the ongoing challenges your fellow community members face.
