This year will be the third Loving Day Celebration in the City of Wichita. It is planned for Saturday, June 9 at Hyde Park, 201 S. Greenwood, 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm. Loving Day's mission is to fight racial prejudice through education and to build multicultural community.

This Celebration is being organized by and for interracial couples and their mixed children, of any age, in Wichita. If you would like to join us or have some way you'd like to volunteer or offer resources, please email us. You can also email for updates at lovingdaywichita@gmail.com, check Loving Day Wichita’s Facebook page or our new website: http://lovingdaywichita.blogspot.com. We are planning free hamburgers and hotdogs, fun and games for the kids, so please join us.

We will be joined by Paul Mitchell the School with cosmetology students prepared to braid or fix your hair. There will also be a voter registration booth, an Ident-A-Kid booth from the Sedgwick County Sheriff, professional photographer MIchael Kinard to take family portraits for only $5 and we will selling t-shirts with LDW's new logo. Keep an eye on this site, or our Loving Day Wichita facebook page for all the updates. All are welcome!

We've been on two local news shows and in the Wichita Eagle in the past week preparing for our celebration. The link to the Eagle story is: http://www.kansas.com/2012/06/06/2360861/loving-day-celebration-set-for.....

After The Event

How did it go?:

What a fun day! Paul Mitchell did hair, Mike Kinard took photos, kids played games and colored. We all had a great time. We were joined by Councilwoman Lavonta Williams and many others. We had a very successful raffle with prizes donated by local business supporters and artists. It was a great day!
