When and Where is the Celebration?
We're coming together on LOVING DAY WEEKEND to celebrate the rich diversity of New Orleans families and the legacy of RICHARD & MILDRED LOVING, the interracial couple whose 1967 landmark civil rights lawsuit, Loving v. Virginia ended all race-based legal restrictions on marriage. Please join us for our 8th Annual Ice Cream Social. We'll have frozen treats (while they last), kids crafts and prizes, face painting, family photos, vendors, community groups and more!
The Loving Festival is also collaborating with BE THE MATCH to connect blood cancer patients with life-saving bone marrow donors. Help us reach our goal of registering 50 new donors from the Greater New Orleans Area. Multiethnic individuals are encouraged to participate. Donor candidates must be 18-44 years old to register and willing to donate to any patient. Adults 45 and older must join online and pay a small registration fee. Representatives from Be The Match will be present for anyone interested in joining the National Marrow Donor Registry. Joining is easy - paperwork and a cheek swab.
