LGBTQ SHORTS (notably Pamanhikan)
Village East Cinema

A collection of five shorts. Here's a description of one of the films titled Pamanhikan: Remember when your parents met your spouse's parents for the first time? For Filipinos, there is a tradition for that. It's called a 'pamanhikan'. For Brendan and Jun, an interracial gay couple, their pamanhikan occurs over brunch (and doesn't go according to plan).

LA SALADA (featured film)
Village East Cinema
July 30, 2015 8:00 pm

A multicultural story about the experience of new immigrants in Argentina. Blending the stories of Korean, Taiwanese and Bolivian immigrants who are not exactly at home, yet no longer belong to the countries they were born in, LA SALADA captures the constant struggle with identity issues, social exclusion and the generation gap that many immigrants face today.
