Statistics

U.S. Census Bureau
The U.S. Census includes statistics on race and marriage. In 2000 the U.S. Census updated their racial categories, allowing people to select more than one race for the first time.

FBI Hate Crime Statistics
The FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program includes a publication on Hate Crime Statistics. In 2005, race was the top motiviating factor of hoate crimes (55.7%). Religious belief was in a distant second place (16.0%).

PBS: Hardwood by Hubert Davis
The Academy Award-nominated "Hardwood" is a deeply personal filmic journey by director Hubert Davis, the son of former Harlem Globetrotter Mel Davis. Mel, now a coach for young basketball players in Vancouver, fell in love at first sight with Hubert's mother, a white woman, at a time when racism seemed to make their union impossible.

PBS: Unforgivable Blackness - The Risse and Fall of Jack Johnson (by Ken Burns)
Jack Johnson was the first African-American Heavyweight Champion of the World, whose dominance over his white opponents spurred furious debates and race riots in the early 20th century. Perhaps even more troubling for white America than Johnson's dominance over his white opponents in the boxing ring were his romantic entanglements with white women.
