Happy Loving Day (The Loving Day Song)

A normal day in 1958
Richard and Mildred made their vows
They said "I do"

But late one night, they were
Arrested in their bedroom
Locked in a jail cell
The wedding was a crime

Now we say

Happy, happy Loving Day
Every year we celebrate
For the ones we love
And the ones that paved the way

To be in love with who we please
No matter what ethnicity
No matter what they say
We know we're meant to be

1967, on the 12th of June
The Loving case was won
And changed a lot of lives

Loving was their name, they were
Humble, they were strong
The world's not perfect, so
Let's finish what they started on

Now we say

If your life looks like the Loving case, then
You know you're in the right place
If you live your life in a Loving way
You know you're not alone on Loving Day

(Repeat Bridge)

OUTRO (play four times):

Keep on loving
Loving Day's your celebration
(Na, na, na...)

Everyone in every nation
Share it with the next generation
Loving Day's your celebration now
